Echo House

YEAR: 2024

LOCATION: Latvia

PROGRAM: Private house

SIZE: 150 m2

STATUS: In progress

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Echo House combines a family home with a rental unit, offering a unique opportunity for the property to generate income and offset costs over time. Positioned at opposite ends of the structure, the family home and rental unit achieve a balanced separation, creating distinct yet cohesive spaces that "echo" one another in design and purpose.

Expansive glazing on both sides of Echo House showcases the stunning views and fills the interiors with natural light, enhancing the connection with the surrounding landscape. Side windows equipped with adjustable shutters provide an added layer of privacy, allowing residents to control their exposure to the outdoors. Each unit features a private terrace on opposite sides of the house, ensuring seclusion while enriching the outdoor living experience. Thoughtfully designed roof overhangs protect against overheating and partially cover the terraces, making these spaces adaptable for various weather conditions.

A harmonious red color palette ties the exterior elements of Echo House together, blending naturally with the landscape and adding visual warmth. Facades are clad in wooden planks arranged in diverse patterns, adding textural richness and breaking down the building’s scale for an inviting appearance.

Inside, double-height open spaces on either side create a sense of spaciousness and visually connect both floors, establishing a cohesive living environment that resonates throughout the home. A central stairs serves as the main architectural feature, efficiently linking spaces and enhancing interior flow. CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) panels are used as the primary structural element, exposed in the interiors to reinforce our commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly design. This thoughtful approach to materials and layout makes Echo House a harmonious, enduring space that serves both residents and guests alike, offering a design that reflects and echoes its surrounding beauty.

By blending a private residence with a rentable guest space in a single building, we maximize cost efficiency without compromising on privacy or aesthetics.
